book: David Baldacci “The Innocent”

I’ve been reading a lot using the Kindle app on my android phone or iPad.  I find that the short chapter structure that Baldacci uses is particularly good for this type of stop-start reading while you commute.  The story revolves around Will Robie a US sanctioned assassin who is faced with a seemingly simple job that turns bad when he discovers that the target has got children with her – he doesn’t pull the trigger and yet someone else does.  He has been set up with another shooter around.  Taking to his escape plan he runs into the 14 year old Julie who is also on the run from watching her own parents being murdered.

Robie saves the girls life, eventually discovering that whoever set him up is also responsible for the murder of her parents and their meeting was not just by chance.

The plot moves so fast that it really is necessary for the characters to sum up now and again to remind you just what is going on.  They are on the run, then they trust some people, then they are on the run again and then suddenly it all changes to be a national emergency but can they get to the potential terrorist in time?

An action packed page turner and just what you need on the train in the morning.
